Whole30 Quickie Bites - by Shapin'Up
Unfortunately, not everyone has the time to meal plan and cook every meal of every day. Not to worry, there are some store-bought options and quick combos that can get through busy days, no cheating necessary.
Here are a few favorites to have on hand to get you through the busier days of Whole30:
RX Bars: These bars are heartier and more filling than other bars and are made with limited, Whole30-compliant ingredients. Setting it apart from other bars is the inclusion of egg whites. These are great for pre- or post-workouts when you don't have time or the need for a full meal. All flavors with the exception of the peanut butter bar are Whole30-approved. Use code Whole30 for 10% off your order.
Paleo On the Go: This food delivery service is all paleo-friendly and a lot of offered items fit into the Whole30 category as well (but not everything, so make sure to read your labels). Paleo On the Go meals come frozen; keep a few in your freezer and quickly defrost them at meal time. The dishes taste home-made and are oh-so-good. The prices are also reasonable, you don't get as much bang-for-your-buck as when you cook but this is the second best thing.. Try the butternut squash lasagna, yum.
Larabars: These may be considered a "sugar bomb" by Whole30 standards but sometimes you just need one! These bars on relatively cheap and perfect for storing in your desk drawer, purse or gym bag. The flavors are delicious and many are Whole30-complaint (Compliant: Apple Pie, Banana Bread, Carrot Cake, Cashew Cookie, Cherry Pie, Chocolate Coconut Chew, Coconut Cream Pie, Key Lime Pie, Lemon Bar, Pecan Pie, Pumpkin Pie). They do have a lot of sugar due to the use of dates, but in a pinch, these are a good go-to.
Almond Butter+Banana: Almond butter can be a lifesaver when you're hungry on Whole30. Have a scoop and move on. If you're looking for a quick meal or mid-day pick me up (snacks are discouraged on Whole30 but sometimes you REALLY need one), grab almond butter and a banana and you have a tasty combo to get you through the day. If you're feeling crazy, sprinkle on some dried unsweetened shaved coconut.
Prosciutto+Avocado: Another quickie combo that is equal parts nutritious and delicious. Slice avocado, wrap the prosciutto around it and enjoy. Make sure to read your prosciutto labels, some have added sugar or other unwanted ingredients.
Dried or Frozen Fruit: You shouldn't overdo it on fruit but you can allow some in your daily eats. To make sure you have some on hand, you can opt for dried or frozen in the event that fresh isn't an option. A lot of dried fruit contains added sugar which is a big no-no but read your labels and you'll find some compliant options. Check out Trader Joe's Just Mango or their frozen Very Cherry Berry Blend.
A well-stocked kitchen is one key to success during Whole30, hopefully these items will make it into your pantry and help you on your way!
